Springtime

Springtime

It’s now official spring here at Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital! It is starting to get very busy with lots of orphaned wildlife now coming through our doors so we would like to share with you some of the patients we have in with us at the moment!

We have had a nest of 4 robins which were accidentally moved as their nest was inside of a hay bale and so wasn’t seen, our first 5 ducklings of the season (4 mallards and 1 tufted) and already have had 9 fox cubs!

Sadly, we are already seeing some orphans coming in when it is too late. We often receive phone calls of ‘we have being hand rearing a baby animal for a few days but it isn’t looking very well anymore, can we bring it to you’, but unfortunately it is usually too late. If you find ANY orphaned wildlife, please DO NOT hand rear it yourself but instead contact ourselves, or your local wildlife centre for advice and to arrange bringing in. You will be doing the best by the animal by following this advice.

If you would like to help towards the care of these animals, as well as the many more orphans we are expecting to come in, below is a list of the items which we use the most at this time of year:

  • Royal Canin Puppy Milk
  • Esbilac Puppy Milk
  • Live Insects (mealworms, wax worms and crickets)
  • Royal Canin Starter Mousse
  • Kaytee Exact Hand Feeding Formula

These can be purchased from our amazon wishlist and sent directly to us or you can purchase them elsewhere and drop off at the centre.

Alternatively, if you would like to buy an amazon gift card for us, you can do so by following this link and putting in our email ([email protected]).

Thank you for your continued support.
